moar artsy fartsy

Hey guys! So yeah. Erm... last time I posted I could find all of the prints I'd done, so without further ado!

The above print was an epic fail. I did more batik, and it was supposed to be based on the suits of cards, but my retarded hands coupled with hot wax, and a broken tjanting resulted in this. I even forgot to mark the final red square!

The above prints I did with screens. Just lined up some dyes and paper circles and went! Quite fun and I really like the textures.

The above print was done with screens and a stencil that I made form a tracing. Printed onto black poly- cotton, I had to use a really small squeegee (they're the tools you use to print with) to get the different colours for each fist. I'm really proud of this one. I may use it in my first collection!

So, I repeated the fist print! I did it on white satin this time, cos I plan to make pillows for my family with the fabric. One word of advice, DON'T DO IT. The fabric kept slipping and I made a lot of marks and staining which I wish could've been avoided. Ah well. #YOLO

artsy fartsy.

Hey guys! I haven't updated in the longest while... been really busy and not that motivated. However, here I am.

Now some of you that know me, know that I dream of becoming a fashion designer some day. And so to reach that dream I've been attending a short course on textile printing at university. Even though I do find it a little basic, it's really fun!

This print in purple above was the first one that I'd ever done. I used a pre- mixed purple dye, and some cut outs of flower shapes to achieve this.

The two above are the second prints that I did. I was strapped for inspiration, and so I just used Hangul! ^^ Thankyou Korea, for taking up most of my free time haha. I sketched out the characters on tracing paper, and then using carbon paper I made a stencil. I then used three different dyes to achieve this look. The top one was just inspired by my Caribbean heritage.... the second was just whichever dyes I could get my hands on.

The above textile print was achieved with batik. Batik, or wax resist is done by making patterns with hot wax, then allowing to to dry and staining the fabric with dyes. It was really fun to do, but I burned myself on the hot wax. FAIL.

I have a few other prints which I left on campus, like the dunce I am. I'll show you soon.

Next session, I'm going to try and do another print as an example that I can use for my brand! ^^ I want to do something Caribbean inspired. I'll keep you posted.

There are many. facebook, Twitter, tumblr, here. Oh, and FictionPress.

Love, money, happyEnding.

Sour things, j'adore. Fizzy things, not so much, excepting sherbert.

Yes. I love kids. But I want them at a time where it'd be smart to have them, i.e. owning a house and bringing home lots of monies.

11: Name a food or drink you really dislike.

MASHED POTATO. URGH.

I would tag people back, but all of my friends completed this last month! I'm so late, sorry guys ><

shop, til i take a drop.

So today, on my quest for some art materials for my textiles course, I had a peek into the vintage shops in the Boscombe/ Pokesdown area of Bournemouth. I really wasn't planning to buy anything... BUT I had a look , and I managed to get my paws on a smoking jacket and another red jacket for £38!

I don't know what makes either jacket are, but I'm really pleased with them. ^^ The red jacket was actually £36, but the old lady couldn't see the price properly without her glasses on, and sold it to me for £26.. Call me dishonest, but why would I have corrected her if it saved me money?

(Above is the embroidery on the smoking jacket, and the interior of the red jacket. LUSH)

The smoking jacket was £12. TWELVE POUNDS. JHEEZE. It's beautiful. I will actually wear it out and about. It's divine. I need to get it cleaned though, the inside is not the prettiest. Apparently the jacket is from the 60's. Well that was what the lady in the shop said.

I'm actually really happy. I usually don't buy on impulse, but YOLO!

run bunny, run!

So the past two weeks have been my Easter holiday. I'm sorry I haven't posted! Been feeling mad depressed. Le sigh. Anyway, in the second week I came down to London. Had a really good trip. I had to travel to North London to collect some golden hair extensions for a uni project (we're doing Rapunzel) and I managed to spend under a fiver! And I got LOADS!

Also ventured into Shepherd's Bush Market and got some fabric scraps. I want to make some bow ties and test out my sewing skills before I being to push YardofWynter (my upcoming fashion brand). And I got two new hats.

(The fabric! The guy in the shop tried to make me give him £6 for this bag of scraps... IS HE A NUTTER?! Got it for a fiver. Lots of nice shiny fabric and that massive blue piece is satin... and it's folded over! YEH BOI!)

I managed to meet up with my friend Jasmine who I haven't seen in forever! Since coming to uni I've drifted slightly from my friends in London so it was good to catch up. We hit Nando's. I didn't eat chicken. I know, I know. But chicken is boring these days haha.

So on Easter Saturday I hosted a picnic! It didn't go as well as planned (some people didn't turn up, and it was cold) but it didn't fail on me completely. My Oreo & Vanilla cheesecake went down a storm! It was mad, we were at the park, then moved onto KFC, and then back to the park.... then to Chinatown... then around.... We had fun! ^^

( I know the alignment is effed, blogspot pisses me off sometimes! )

AND I FINALLY MANAGED TO GET MY PAWS ON SOME BUBBLE TEA! AND STRAWS!

And finally... my cheesecake! Well, what's left of it ha!

Had such a great trip home!

it's easter next week

... And I have work to finish... which hasn't been done or started. I really need to stop procrastinating. I seem not to be able to motivate myself. This really annoys me. The woes of a student. *sigh* And I really must stop spending so much money! I don't wanna be so broke I have £60 to live off a months. Those times last year were horrible!

Anyway, I got my hair did.

I got canerows going all back this time. I just wanted something simple, and cos I got my head shaved again this time, if I'd gotten zig- zags again it would have cost me £35! The cheek of the Afro hairdressers at uni. This is one of the disadvantages of not being near a hair shop in South London. I coulda got all of this done for £20 max! Black hair is so expensive KMFRT.

Speaking of hair though, I do miss being ginger. My red hair will be coming back in the coming months. I'll need to take amazing care of it though. Before I got this done though, i tried a new thing and made an avocado protein mask to give this bush some strength. Safe to say it worked, and afterwards my hair felt very strong! When I do it next time I'll post a tutorial and recipe.

ALSO... DUNDUNDUNNNNNN... MY JEANS CAME! *insert gunfingers, "brapping" and dancing here*

Envy me bitches. These are the Logo Block print jeans from Gerlan Jeans' S/S '11 collection, Jeans & Satin. I've wanted them for so long (over half a year), and at least these babies are MINE! They went down in price massively and I just had to get them before they sold out.

Just one little problem... they're size 34, and I've a 36. LOL motivation to lose weight for summer. So beautiful. *dreams* And look at the package it came in!

So  personalised. Go me. I am special.

I really must update my blog more often. Gonna try and do it two/ three times a week.

a foot in the door.

So yesterday I was on a video shoot! >< It was AMAZING! I went to help out my friend Nathan at Kool Beanz Productions for the Afro Kid music video and it was so fun. However I was there from 8.35am till 6pm- I was finished! I'm so pleased because I finally got to "run" on the set of a video. I don't even care if it's not a big company, it's something! Still tired though. I got home at 1am this morning, and I've felt lethargic all day.

Home was an experience. My auntie is leaving for Grenada this week, so this was the last time I got to see her for three months. I am such a bad nephew. She told me that in December she fell down the stairs, and lost her confidence. She doesn't leave the house any more unless she's shopping. I still feel bad about this because this is the first time I've seen her since the start of the year, and I haven't spoken to her much. I am so selfish.

This year I really need to start being more mindful of others, and start taking care of my family.
